Privacy Policy

This page explains how www.itsourfuture.co.uk and www.infoscotland.com/ourfuture uses any information you give to us, and the ways in which we protect your privacy.

The Data Protection Act

Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. We use leading technologies to safeguard your data, and keep strict security standards to prevent any unauthorised access to it. We do not pass on your details to any third party or government department unless you give us permission to do so.

What information do we collect?

We collect two kinds of information from visitors to this site: Personal details in connection with your sign up, and site usage information from session cookies and log files.

Personal details for sign ups

If you sign up, the information we collect is your name, address, email address, sex and date of birth. This information is stored to allow us to understand who is interested in making pledges and to contact you in future with other information you might find useful in creating a greener Scotland.

A copy of this information is kept securely by the Scottish Government and our technology suppliers, Civic and Whitespace and will be held until such time you inform the Scottish Government otherwise: sustainable.development@scotland.gsi.gov.uk. This information is also stored on back-up tapes to avoid loss of data.

Site usage information - log files

Log files allow us to record visitors' use of the site. Civic (the technology provider for the website) puts together log file information from all our visitors, which we use to inform changes to the layout of the site and to the information on it, based on the way that visitors move around it. Log files do not contain any personal information.

Changes to this privacy policy
If this privacy policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on this page. Regularly reviewing this page ensures you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we will share it with other parties.

Loft Insulation campaign

If you decide to complete the enquiry questionnaire for assistance with loft insulation, the information we collect is: your name, address, telephone number and email address.

The Energy Saving Trust is collecting your personal details for the purpose of responding to your request for information and advice. We will retain your details for monitoring and analysis purposes. In the future the Energy Saving Trust would like to contact you with information including details of grants and special promotions that can help reduce your energy bills and your impact on the environment. If you do not want to receive this help, indicate so on the sign up form.

We will not pass your details on to any third parties without your prior consent. A copy of this information will be kept securely by the Energy Saving Trust and held until such time you inform the Energy Saving Trust otherwise.
